چکیده

This research used both ERS and JERS-1 images to investigate the feasibility of differential radar interferometry (DInSAR) for mine subsidence monitoring in the state of New South Wales, Australia. DInSAR results are analysed and validated with the aid of Geographic Information System (GIS) tools. The drawbacks of using interferometric measurements for mine subsidence monitoring are discussed. The repeat-pass tandem and JERS-1 DInSAR results are presented. Keywords-interferometry; DInSAR; GIS; mine subsidence; ERS-1/2; JERS-1; Envisat

Integrated Radar Interferometry for Ground Subsidence Monitoring

This paper reports the progress of the ongoing ESA CAT-1 project (ID 1078). Radar interferometry (InSAR) has been used together with GIS (Geographic Information System) technique to monitor ground subsidence due to underground mining in a test site around the Appin township, southwest of Sydney, Australia. Various digital elevation models (DEMs) are assessed using elevation profiles from ground...

Mine Subsidence Monitoring: a Comparison among Envisat, Ers and Jers-1

This paper reports the progress of the Envisat CAL/VAL Project No 1078. Subsidence in an underground coal mining region southwest of Sydney, Australia, has been monitored using ERS and JERS-1. Seven Envisat images have been acquired in various imaging modes from both ascending and descending passes over the same mining region. More Envisat images have been scheduled and will be acquired in the ...

Radar Interferometry for Mining Subsidence Monitoring

Coal mining activities all over the world often introduce serious environmental impact to the local regions, such as the occurrence of land subsidence. Conventional subsidence monitoring is done by precision leveling and GPS surveying. However, recent studies show that differential interferometric synthetic aperture radar (DInSAR) is capable of monitoring land subsidence at sub-cm accuracy. In ...

Mine Subsidence Monitoring Using Multi-source Satellite SAR Images

Ground subsidence due to underground mining has posed a constant threat to the safety of surface infrastructure such as motorways, railways, power lines, and telecommunications cables. Traditional monitoring techniques like using levels, total stations and GPS can only measure on a point-by-point basis and hence are costly and time-consuming. Differential interferometric synthetic aperture rada...

The Integration of GPS, Satellite Radar Interferometry, and GIS Technologies for Ground Subsidence Monitoring

A variety of deformation surveying techniques have been extensively used for measuring the pattern of ground subsidence. These include precise levelling, total station traversing, aerial photogrammetry and GPS surveys. The impact on the surface infrastructure of underground coal mining to the southwest of Sydney is continuously monitored using a combination of these techniques. Since 2002, expe...
